there was a start time planned for the ceremony for Blair and Leah but this was a moveable feast and soon consumed by the forest as lunch got a little lost and some of the guests got a little lost. and in that losing, the day founded & extended. time stretched. the moment enjoyed. and the next moment enjoyed. and we got lost in the moment.and there time was found. time to relax. to stand in the trees. to look in the eyes. to breathe in each other, with the leaves, in the forest.

flying over the whitsundays is breathtaking and so is the shorter runway on Hamilton island. and then it`s on to the golf carts – no cars. it`s a slightly insane place bearing little resemblance to reality… but it`s absolutely stunning and i`d love to take the family back to sail around for a week or 2 or 3 or 4…

michael and angela were freed here. relaxed in a ‘you only need board shorts and a sunhat’ kind of way. and there was nothing really that they needed to do but look after themselves and each other. and I love that aspect of weddings. the freedom and space to be happy. and with the occassional electric whir of a golf cart, here there was freedom and space surrounded by water.

for this series i used my ‘work’ camera but explored a different technique. multiple exposures within camera. and no post production aside from contrast. I am lucky enough to live in the bush with wollumbin mountain at its centre core. it`s magnetic and is a driving presence. but there are many postcards of wollumbin and I wanted something different. something that captured more than one sense.

some of these are part of the ‘capturing light‘ photographic exhibition opening tonight at retrospect galleries in Byron. the exhibition, focusing on different media / techniques within photography, is open until after Easter.
